PAKISTAN has long faced extremism, insurgency and terrorism. After 9/11, a number of legal, administrative and policy interventions were made, but despite the expanded counterterrorism (CT) apparatus, the goals have yet to be met. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Turkmenistan (with residence in Stockholm) Thomas Danestad. There is quite an uneasiness among the seasoned second tier leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as senior vice president and chief organiser of the party.
